My last review, the iBayam Journal, and my Lihit Lab Smart Fit Actact Stand Pen Case

As my pen collection has grown slowly over the terminal few months, I've been looking for more and more ways to store and transport my growing collection. While scrolling through one of the few pen subreddits on Reddit, I came across a gif of someone transforming the Lihit Lab Smart Fit Actact Stand Pen Case from the closed position to its cup form. I immediately liked how unique this case was and began researching to find it. Luckily, some knowledgeable people on the sub provided me with the proper name and brand then I could purchase one myself.

Later some searching, I was able to find the Actact represent $10US on Amazon. When it arrived, I was surprised at how small it was. Maybe the camera on the gif was zoomed in closer than I thought. Another surprise was how soft the case is. It's made fully of soft silicone making it very flexible and somewhat squishy. I was nether the impression that it would be stiff. Its softness does, withal, assist with transportation and storage equally it's not super bulky. One downside could be that your pens would get damaged if they're smashed together, especially if you're conveying wood pens with ones that have a knurled grip.

I've been using this case for the terminal few weeks and found over time that I preferred my slim case or my Nomadic PE-09 over this one just considering information technology's a bit bulkier than I would like. I've been conveying this in the front pouch of my Osprey Tropos, my favorite backpack thus far, and while it does fit well in there, it merely takes upwardly a lot of room for non a lot of chapters. It's unique and fun to use, but the capacity made me take information technology out and switch dorsum to my slim pen instance from Lihit Lab.

Specifications

The body of the example is fabricated from a soft silicone making information technology very flexible and somewhat mushy. While this allows for flexibility and the function of its telescoping body that makes it unique and transforms it into a continuing pen cup, it is soft enough that very calorie-free weights volition lead to information technology getting squished and possibly damaging your pens. It is made with a attachment enclosure at the top that wraps effectually the torso providing a lid to cover the pens when it is airtight. Its pattern is a pouch/standing case and can hands transformed from the pouch grade to the standing pen cup by grabbing the sides firmly and pressing the lesser into a hard surface. I should notation that the case should exist opened or unzipped for this, otherwise you'll put a hole in the bottom or top of the case. It can hold upward to x pens although this is going to vary with the thickness of what you're carrying. It is about 5.8cm or 2.3in wide and stands 17.2cm or 6.8in alpine while in its pouch form and four.75in or 12cm alpine while in its cup form. Information technology is available in navy (the model I'm reviewing), black, red, and yellow greenish. Lihit Lab also released a PuniLabo line of these cases that comes with animal tops to add a bit of fun to this unique design.

Overall:

After using this instance for a few weeks I don't really have much to say about information technology. Information technology'due south very unique design that I haven't come up across in other pen cases. It's fun to use and will stand up out at your role, in school, or in your day to 24-hour interval life. For me, its soft structure was problematic because information technology can impairment your pens if you have a knurled grip on 1 pen and a softer or steel body on some other pens. I judge yous could behave them separately, but it's nice to only have one pen example for all of your needs. Information technology's as well a bit bulkier than I would like. It is minor plenty to easily fit in almost any backpack or messenger handbag just given I carry a lot of stuff and desire to go on my backpack as slim as possible, this was just something I couldn't add together to it. Don't get me wrong I really like this pen case. It feels like information technology would stand to some use and abuse and I like its office, I merely think at that place are meliorate options for me and my style of carry out there to add together this to my EDC.

The Lihit Lab Smart Fit Slim Pen Case is role of the Smart Fit line of products by Lihit Lab. This line equally a whole provides products that are small-scale yet has quite a bit of storage space given their size. This instance, in particular, is designed to hold eight pens in a case that is easily placed in a coat pocket, pants pocket, or a smaller pocket in a backpack or handbag.

This was my first pen case since I was much younger and I have to say, I retrieve Lihit Lab did a great job with this pen case. I've just used information technology for a few weeks just at present I tin carry a variety of pens with me without worrying almost them getting scratched or ruined past bouncing around in my backpack or pocket. I can too bring my nicer pens to work without carrying them in my padfolio which has led to scratches on my Nemosine Fission and the tip of my Graph Gear 500 angle.

Features and construction:

As you can run across from the pictures throughout this web log post the construction of this case is very simple. Information technology has two storage compartments big enough to fit virtually eight fountain or larger pens and a sleeve over the top that keeps pens from falling out when it is closed. I've been able to get ten pens into the pouch merely that's by carrying thinner pens like a Parker Jotter and the Pilot Precise V5s.

The case itself is made of Cordura cloth, a type of polyester that's advertised as existence tear resistant, durable, and strong. Despite existence polyester, this case feels very smooth. I've seen other pen cases made of cheap polyester or some similar cloth that feels tacky and simply poor quality. I'm thinking of those pen cases that experience like they're fabricated of tarp or tent material. Just in my short time using this case, I think it will stand up to the wear and tear associated with everyday acquit, slipping in and out of pockets, being bent and folded, and getting dropped.

1 of the things nearly this example that I think shows the people over at Lihit Labs actually went the extra mile in designing this product is the case's power to transform into a pen pod. To practice this, y'all open up it, fold the top down, fold information technology in half, and use the snaps to proceed it open. I found out that if y'all only have pens in one side it won't stand upward. In other words, if you lot have more pens to put in information technology it volition work better! If you don't have enough to make full it then you can merely purchase more than!

A second style you can utilise this is as a notebook holder. You lot can fit an A7 notebook pad in it and notwithstanding have room for iv-v pens or pencils on the reverse side.

As I mention below, I think the only downside to this case is it leaves the pen clips exposed while closed so they can rub on each other.
As I mention below, I call back the just downside to this case is information technology leaves the pen clips exposed while closed so they can rub on each other.

In terms of measurements, the cases dimensions are: 0.6 inches in depth, 7.half-dozen inches long, and 4 inches broad.

What it'due south like to use the case:

As I mentioned previously, I take only had this case for a few weeks, just it'due south quickly made its way into my every day carry while I'm working in the community. It fits so nicely in the front pocket of my Osprey Tropos, a pocket, or in my jacket and it makes it much easier to get a pen than going through my pocketbook even to go to the pen holders in my haversack. Even in the small pocket where I behave it, it fits wonderfully and doesn't seem to take upward much room. I thing I've used information technology for is to shop the pens I'm going to exist reviewing soon so they're easily accessible and come with me wherever I go.

Downsides:
There is only one thing that I recollect could be made amend on this example: A flap to protect the pen clips. The only downside to this case is your pen clips are exposed and rub on each other while the case is closed. If yous accept a nicer pen with a nice clip, this may be concerning to you lot and you may desire to find something more suitable like a single pen case.

Conclusion:

I don't have much to say nearly this pen instance as it's nada more than a fashion to bear pens. I recall Lihit Lab did a groovy job with this example. It's unproblematic, versatile, and holds a surprising amount of pens for its size. I know that my pens will be safe in it even if my clips may become a little scratched. I think it's a keen addition to an EDC for those of us who like carrying more than one pen and don't like the idea of carrying a dainty pen in your pocket. Let me know what you guys recollect of this case and this review!
